When I launched The Heavy Purse three years ago, it was my intention to help increase awareness around financial literacy, particularly the importance of parents talking to their kids about money. I had many hopes and dreams but many unknowns too. This was new territory for me, which was both exhilarating and scary. This leap of faith allowed me to share my knowledge and passion with you, which has been a real privilege. In return, I have learned so much from you these past few years, and I hope that I have returned the favor as well. Because I’m a firm believer that we never stop learning and growing, I’m taking another leap of faith as I launch The Financially Sound podcast today.
It was never my intent to start a podcast, but as I’ve shared before, one benefit of finding your money happiness is being able to take advantage of opportunities. I follow what I teach, so when the father of one of Taylor’s closet friends offered to produce Financially Sound for me, I immediately said “yes” to another opportunity to help even more people improve their financial literacy and become Financially Real.
I am well aware there are hundreds, if not thousands, of voices out there talking about finance. Why add mine to the mix? I felt strongly that I had something positive to add to the conversation. My agenda is simple: to educate you and demystify finance, so you can make informed decisions that help create the life you want.
It’s not about proving that my way is the right way. There is no absolute, universal right way for everyone. There is, however, the right way for you. In order to find your way and create your roadmap, you need a guide to help demystify finance so you can make confident decisions with your money. I’ve been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) for 23 years and now I’m sharing my personal insights and lessons from the inside to help you become Financially Sound.
Disclosure: Financially Sound with Shannon Ryan is designed for the individual investor. Not all strategies are right for every listener. Please consult your financial advisor or tax professional before employing any of the ideas or strategies heard on this show.
This is a new, exciting endeavor for me and I hope you will find it beneficial too. Right now we have three podcasts available on iTunes (they will be available for download on android devices soon). You can also listen and download each podcast below. We’ll begin releasing podcasts weekly in July. Financially Sound will be a mix of more complex investment strategies and lighter topics, such as: money happiness, talking to kids about money and emotional competence that you regularly read about on The Heavy Purse. It’s my goal to always make them informative, actionable and relatable.
I hope you enjoy the first 3 podcasts!
