Weekly Roundup

Round-Up: Week of February 24, 2014

Weekly Roundup

February winds down today and March is coming in like lion for us in Los Angeles. We’re looking at a rainy weekend, which for those who survived the polar vortex, this may seem like no big deal. We do need the rain but when get too much at once, it definitely increases the risk of mudslides and flooding. Plus, we can’t drive in rain. šŸ™‚

On Monday, I shared the The Slippery Slope of Don’t Tell Mom or Dad. It’s a common phrase and one that gets used without truly understanding the lessons you are teaching your kids. From money secrets are acceptable and lying is okay, these are not lessons you want your kids to emulate and teach their children. Next Monday, I’ll take a closer look at how to create systems to prevent accidental financial infidelity.

A Few Good Reads

Here are my favorites posts from this past week. Enjoy!

Vanessa, one half of the Cash Cow Couple duo, had a thought provoking post Money. Is that All There Is to Life? Money thoughts often consume people and we need to understand where it fits as a priority in our lives.

My friend, Kerry at Breadwinning Mama shared The Invisible Task List that all Moms face. A great read for Moms who feel overwhelmed by all the things on their real and invisible lists. You are definitely not alone!

Wendy over at Girl Meets Debt reminded us to Care About Your Debt Because No One Else Will. A great reminder that we need to be the person who cares the most about our financial lives, whether we’re in debt or not. It’s up to us to know what we want and do the hard work to make it happen.

Brian at Luke 1428 had a beautiful interview with his grandfather who just celebrated his 100th birthday in My Grandfather Reflects on Life, Faith and Finding Purpose. His grandfather’s sage words and an amazing attitude will inspire you and you may possibly shed a tear or two.

And finally, I want to wrap with a big CONGRATULATIONS to my friend, Anna, who just got married. Please head over to the Great Ball and Chain Acquisition or I’m Married post and offer your congratulations. Best wishes to you and B for a long and happy life together.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Even though I can't say I'm excited about the rain and potential flooding that comes with it, I definitely am ready to be DONE with this freezing weather!

I loved hearing the rain when I was sleeping last night. And today...I need to get focused with a project so having a rainy day makes me feel less guilty about not being outside. :) Hope you have a great weekend!

It did sound nice and I can't complain too hard. My commute is really short as is yours (hopefully no need to travel to Burbank today!) You have a great weekend too!

I hope all of SoCal is getting some rain. The images I've seen of the drought in some places is scary.

We're definitely get some much needed rain now. Of course, not enough to make-up for our deficit but every bit helps!

Aww, thanks so much for the shout-out, Shannon! I'm so behind on my PF reads, so this is a great list to start with. My pet peeve with the rain is when cars don't consider the bikers/walkers and splash on them... I try to give them stink-eye, but it probably goes unnoticed. haha I hope you and your family stay warm, cozy, and dry this weekend!!

You're welcome, Anna! Hope married life is still treating you well. :) Oh yes, I hate that too. It's almost like some drivers purposefully aim for the puddles just to splash you! You stay dry this weekend too!

Supposedly the rain you get there is going to cross the US and dump us with a foot of snow on Monday. Ugh! I am really ready for spring!

I didn't realize it rained that much in Vancouver. We're so spoiled and used to nice sunny days. We feel confused when there is no sun! LOL! You're very welcome and you have a great weekend too!

You're welcome, Brian. It was a wonderful tribute to a great man. I'm glad but not surprised to hear that it's struck a chord with so many. I hope you share that with your grandfather as well. You have a great week too, my friend!
