Halloween 2015 By The Numbers #Infographic

We’ve been an experiencing a very hot October in LA, so it doesn’t feel much like Fall here. But according to my calendar, we’re halfway through the month, which means Thanksgiving is about 5 weeks away and Christmas will be here in 10 short weeks. Yikes! Fall is always such a busy time of the year as we jump from holiday-to-holiday. Of course, that is what also makes it fun, most of the time!

With Halloween fast approaching, I’ve shared a couple of posts to help you keep it fun and affordable and taught you a new Halloween Candy Game that I hope you’ll play with your kids this year. Keeping with the Halloween spirit (HA!), I found this infographic from OpenSky on how much we’ll spend on Halloween this year.

I was pleased to see how many people appear to plan ahead and shop early. Of course, the stores also start selling Halloween merchandise as soon as back-to-school shopping is over, so that probably accounts for some of the early-bird shopping. One thing I’m careful about is not purchasing candy for trick or treaters too much in advance because – somehow – it seems to magically disappear. We must have a candy ghost. šŸ™‚

Have you started your Halloween shopping? What is your biggest Halloween indulgence? Or money saver?

All about Batman it seems. :) even for your pet. We need to pick up some candy for handing out, tough to figure out how much with a Saturday Halloween this year. My wife and daughter are making costumes this year and my son's are undecided so far.

I was surprised not to see Star Wars as one of the top ones for kids. It seems to be all over the place here. That being said, we've got a princess and a couple storm troopers in our house. :) Like Brian said, it'll be interesting to see how much traffic we get this year with Halloween being on a Saturday. I think we'll be on the lower end, otherwise it'll disappear in our house as well - must be the same ghost. ;)

We're in a new neighborhood, so its tough for us to estimate candy this year. We've had exactly zero trick or treaters in the last four years. I won't buy candy prior to the night before because of that same exact ghost.

Nice infographic. It is very informative. I didn't know that witch is the top costume in 2015 because I prefer and wear zombie ones, which I consider scarier.

We don't have a Trick or Treat tradition here (Australia) although it looks like that is changing. On Saturday evening, I noticed a lot of monsters and princesses on the streets of the new estate I passed through on the way to the supermarket. I'm in two minds as to whether this is a good thing or not.

It's probably good for creating a sense of community but the commercial aspect is a bit... off putting.
