December is flying by with all the holiday parties, Christmas concerts and year-end to-dos. We have less than two weeks until Christmas, people! Are you ready? For those of you who still have some shopping to do, December 18 is Free Shipping Day and Femme Frugality has a list of participating vendors.
This week I shared with you how to Create a Magical Christmas through Family Traditions. Many of us can still remember the anticipation and excitement of opening presents as a child, but we only recall a handful of the presents we received. What we do remember is our family traditions and those traditions play a big role in making the holidays magical.
The Heavy Purse was mentioned in a few places this week. Special thanks to Daily Finance, Frugal Rules, Young Adult Money, Disease Called Debt, Suburban Finance, Girl Meets Debt and I’m Every Woman Weekly for their support. If I missed you, please let me know!
Here are my favorite posts from the past week. Enjoy!
John at Frugal Rules gave a righteous rant in And You Wonder Why We Have Financial Problems. There is so much money being spent to encourage us to spend, while so little money is spent on educating us on how to use our money wisely. A must read post!
Mackenzie at The Random Path is one of my favorite writers. Her post, Cradling Stones, beautifully articulates the initial seduction of debt and the eventual weight it becomes. Soon you will be free its shackles, Mackenzie!
Cat from Budget Blonde talked about What Wealthy Means Around the World in her staff post at Frugal Rules. It is easy to take for granted all the things we have, but Cat spent a few years living in a developing country where eating a meal at KFC gave you something to brag about. A great read to give you a little perspective as you buy Christmas gifts this year.
Pauline at Reach Financial Independence had a wonderful guest post from Simon Cave from The Becomer on Why Your Mindset is More Important than Strategies When It Comes to Financial Independence. Mindset definitely plays a critical role in your financial success and is often overlooked.
Anna from Are Ya Gonna Eat That shared some of her favorite Holiday Traditions. I love hearing what others do to celebrate the season. And be sure to congratulate Anna as she just paid off her debt! Best Christmas present ever!
Well, that’s a wrap! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
