Blog Round-Up: November 11, 2013

blog roundup

I read a post the other day where they mentioned Christmas was only 40 days away. At first I thought it was a typo, but then I realized they were right! The next few weeks are so busy but are a favorite time of mine. How is everyone doing with their Christmas shopping?

This week I shared a great infographic on What You Need to Know about Life Insurance. It’s not always a topic that people are comfortable discussing, but it’s important to protect your most valuable asset—your family. It gives me great peace of mind knowing that may family will be financially okay if the unthinkable happens.

Special thanks to Budget and the Beach, Enemy of Debt, and I’m Every Woman Weekly for mentioning The Heavy Purse. I appreciate your support!

A Few a Good Reads

Here are my favorite posts from the past week. Enjoy!

Grayson at Debt Roundup shared the Gift of Debt: Enjoying My Hobby. We don’t often consider debt to be a gift, but it does offer us some powerful lessons as Grayson shared with us.

FI Pilgrim from FI Journey shared Financial Lessons I Remember Learning from My Dad. My father taught me about money, and I loved hearing the great lessons other fathers are teaching their kids,.

Andrew from Living Rich Cheaply had some great information on Tax Shelters for You and Me. The end of the year is fast approaching, so now is a great time to see if there are any tax moves you can make now to help lower your bill come April.

Laurie from The Frugal Farmer shared How Paying Off Debt Is Like Running a Marathon at Three Thrifty Guys. Just like running a marathon, eliminating debt requires perseverance and keeping an eye on the finish line.

Anna at Are Ya Gonna Eat That reminded us about the importance of Giving To Those in Need. We can get caught up in our own problems, but when tragedy strikes like it did in the Philippines, it gives us perspective. In the month where we give thanks, now is the perfect time to give to those in need here and abroad.

Well, that’s a wrap for this. Have a great weekend everyone!

Life insurance is something I WILL sign up for in 2014. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and I need to just make it happen. Ahhhh Christmas is really creeping up on us isn't it? My wife has already bought quite a few gifts. I should probably help her out with that...

Hope you have a great weekend!

I can't believe that Christmas is so close. We're normally close to being done at this time of the year, but we've been so busy lately that we've not started yet. The grandparents have already started sending stuff, and by the looks of it, we won't need to be buying much though. ;) Have a great weekend Shannon!

Thank you kindly for the mention! I mostly just gave baked goods and ship it out to my loved ones, so B's the only one I have to think about for gifts (and it's usually self-serving, as it gives me a chance to spruce up his wardrobe lol). Best wishes in braving the hectic stores during Christmas shopping, and have a great weekend, Shannon! :)

Christmas is way too soon. Add to that the fact that our due date is 12/21 and we really need to get on top of shopping. Too much avoidance going on right now. Enjoy the weekend!

I started Christmas shopping back in September lol. I didn't want a big dent on my spending come December, so I spaced it out over those few months.

My goodness...Christmas always seems to come so fast! But I'm always ready. I have my outdoor lights ready to go up this week and the day after Thanksgiving, the house gets decorated.

As for shopping....it is all going to be online this year.
