8 Benefits You May Be Missing and a Giveaway

Summer Lovin Giveaway

It feels like summer just began but Back to School flyers are already filling my inbox and mailbox to the girls’ delight. Okay, Mom is probably a tad more excited to get back to a regular routine than they are. šŸ™‚ And just reminder The Summer Lovin’ Giveaway ends on July 21. If you haven’t entered for your chance to win $480—do it today!

I found another great infographic that I wanted to share with you. Financial freedom is the goal for many of us, and I always appreciate additional ways to save or find money.

Tip 2 caught my eye as forgotten 401k accounts happen quite a bit. They may have been small when you left the company years ago, but every penny counts. Plus, they may have also grown significantly since the last time you looked at a statement.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

That infographic is pretty interesting. I knew about all of them, but I doubt most people do. I am amazed at my work how many people don't take advantage of these extra benefits. They'll sit and complain about their salary, but won't take the free benefits that will make their salary go further.

So true. People overlook so many extra perks that could really add up and save them some money. Some people seem to prefer complaining over actually making any real changes. :)

So much money lost. I agree, the forgotten retirement accounts is such a big deal. How can you just let that money go! It's yours!

I agree! I think it gets put on the back-burner amidst all the stress of changing jobs and forgotten. But I would definitely want to know where all my money is and make sure it's working for me!

Interesting infographic! Eventually those forgotten retirements accounts will still need to be paid to you at retirement (I'm hoping, at least it is that way in Canada), but it's crazy to think that so many are abandoned not earning a penny in the meantime. When I left my last job, I got a letter from the investment firm, stating that I either had the option to keep investing in their (lousy) funds, I believe with an additional set of fees or move them over to another retirement account (which I did). As the infographic suggests it's advisable to consolidate your retirement accounts so you avoid losing track.

I've heard people say the reason they left their 401ks at former companies is because they wanted to be diversified, which may or may not be true. Being invested in two or more 401ks doesn't necessarily mean you are actually diversified. And frankly I just think it makes more complicated.

Wow...that is quite a good list of benefits. And I bet a lot of people forget to use them. In my last corporate job I know I didn't take advantage of the stock purchase plan either. I did try to use some of the corporate discounts we received through other companies though.

When I worked for a big Corporation, I was guilty of not taking advantage of some of the benefits they offered. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but now that I freelance - I certainly miss some of them. As the old saying goes - you don't know what you're missing until it's gone. Of course, now days I can work in a t-shirt and shorts and take breaks to play with Max. So win some. Lose some. Have a great weekend!

Interesting infographic! I am surprised at how many people have forgotten 401ks - wow!

It's seems kind of crazy, doesn't it? But I think people keep busy and simply forget. Sometimes they think it's not worth it because the amount is small. But we know every penny counts AND grows!

I like this info a lot. I am getting ready to start a new job and am making sure to carefully plan out how to make the most of the new benefits as well as the extra income that will come in. This serves as a great reminder for me.
