33 Facts You Didn’t Know about Money

33 Facts You Didn't Know about Money #infographic | www.TheHeavyPurse.comThis week has been a huge roller coaster in the markets, which has left many investors feeling uncertain. As you can imagine, my week has been very busy answering questions and alleviating fears. I know many of you have similar questions and concerns as well. Next Monday, I’ll talk some more on the recent market volatility and more importantly — how to respond to market swings.

In the meantime, to keep things light as we head into the last weekend of August, I wanted to share this fun infographic on the 33 Facts You Didn’t Know About US Money from Howmuch.net.

Can you imagine a 50 cent bill? I also found it interesting that being too perfect is one way to identify counterfeit money. 🙂 And I certainly wouldn’t mind having one of those $100,000 gold certificates!

What money fact was new to you or the most interesting?

Great graphic! 90% of bills have been contaminated by cocaine? I would have never guess that.

It's kind of outrageous! Knowing what's "on" our money, almost makes me not want to handle it. :)

You're welcome, Tre. Given how many people dislike pennies and even coins today, I can't imagine having them as bills!

Cool infographic Shannon! Having worked in a bank for about a year, I always feel like I need to bathe myself in hand sanitizer after touching cash lol. I imagine this week has been a busy one for you - weeks like this stoke a lot of fears, which is why the right mindset is so vital.

I bet you did. And now I also understand why so many bank tellers and store cashiers do have hand sanitizer at their station! It has been a crazy and hectic couple of weeks. And you are absolutely correct, the right mindset makes a huge difference. Sadly, so many people want to stoke fears, rather than educate.

Interesting about nickels that were produced during the early 40's that didn't actually have nickel in them. That was during WWII so the military was probably using the nickel for things they needed to build to fight the war.
